Psychologist - Prevention & Early Intervention Program for Psychosis

This position reports to the Manager of Health Disciplines and the Clinical Manager, Adult Mental Health and Addictions Program.  PEPP provides rapid assessment and intervention to youth and young adults who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. In this position, you will work on an interprofessional team comprised of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, an education counselor, a recreation therapist, and an employment counsellor. The psychologist’s responsibilities include: providing individual and group treatment; psychological assessment and diagnosis; consultation; program development and evaluation; and education and training. The position also includes supervision of psychology interns in our accredited internship program.  PEPP has an active research program and there are opportunities for adjunct faculty appointments with the Department of Psychology and Department of Psychiatry at Western University. 

The PEPP team is well-known in the community for its passion, innovation, and dedication to its clients. The program works closely with clients, family members, and community partners to provide youth-friendly and recovery-oriented services. All clients in the PEPP program will have experienced psychosis; however, the psychologist will work with a wide range of presenting concerns including mood, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and substance abuse. In addition to experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), psychologists who are able to integrate and flexibly adapt a variety of empirically supported treatments to meet individual client needs would be very well suited to this position.  Supervision and support is available for new graduates who are in the process of registering with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

Regular Full - Time

Rate of Pay:               $59.83 per hour - $74.80 per hour

Hours of Work:           37.5 hours per week

• Doctoral degree in Psychology
• Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
• Minimum two (2) years recent clinical experience with adults in a mental health care setting
• Experience in the assessment and treatment of psychosis
• Authorized (or eligibility to be authorized) to practice Clinical Psychology
• Authorized (or eligibility to be authorized) to practice with Adolescents & Adults
• Expertise in psychological assessment and evaluation, diagnoses, biopsychosocial case conceptualization, evidence-based Intervention, and consultation
• Proven advanced ability to apply ethics, standards, and jurisprudence
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, PHIPA, HCCA)
• Demonstrated ability in program development and evaluation
• Demonstrated ability in working with interprofessional health care teams
• Demonstrated advanced ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships
• Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated flexibility and a commitment to working within an academic environment
• Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Vision, Purpose and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
